As an engineer, I was very pleased with the quality of the wood framing and bracing, hanging wire and securing staples. As an photographer and ceramic artist I was disappointed in my own selection of matte finish for my photograph. I feel I was swayed by the website descriptions of the four finishes without side by side comparisons of the four finishes with identical subjects. On YouTube videos showing canvas finishes they always tip the artwork back and forth to show the reflectivity of a spotlight on the artwork. Perhaps CanvasHQ should produce their own YouTube videos to show and describe this very important selection. The website description of matte said it was best for subjects with contrast of dark and light areas, but I found that matte produced an objectionable haziness over the entire canvas rendering my blacks as washed out dark gray. In morning light, I cannot even see the image when looking from the side as I enter the room because the entire canvas looks scattered white. I have submitted a question to CanvasHQ about what can I do to get the image clarified and more glossy, and able to see it from the side.

CanvasHQ note: Norman, thank you very much for taking the time to detail your comments about your canvas. That’s a great suggestion about a YouTube video to better show the sheen of our different canvas finishes, and I think that would be especially helpful for our iridescent canvas. We will gladly refund your canvas and let you pick a finish that would work better. We appreciate your business.
